Why We Celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day
November 19, 2021November 19, 2021 is Women's Entrepreneurship Day. It’s a day to celebrate, empower and support women in business and to bring awareness to the millions of girls globally living in poverty, without access to these opportunities.
As a female founder, this is a meaningful day. I understand first hand the obstacles women face when trying to build and grow a business of their own. Whether it’s cultural, financial or any other obstacle in the way; grit, determination and finding a support system is essential.
My life changed when I found a community of fellow female founders with whom I could collaborate, brainstorm, and share our dreams. My journey from the Philippines to Los Angeles was fraught with insecurities and fear. I’m grateful that my education, collaborations and community support helped to reveal my inner strength, with which to create Vital Pet Life.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO)
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) / #ChooseWOMEN was founded in 2013 by social entrepreneur and animal advocate Wendy Diamond with the mission of empowering women globally by bringing together a network of female entrepreneurs, leaders and innovators to initiate startups, economic expansion and advance communities worldwide. WEDO and international campaign #ChooseWOMEN’s goal is to economically empower women.
What exactly does WEDO do?
WEDO works to personally engage women and girls to become actively involved with these organizations in order to realize their full potential, work to change the world and continue to pay it forward. There are myriad ways in which they work to achieve this goal. Opportunities are available for anyone who’s interested, including:
- Student ambassadors from around to globe to create campus engagement
- World Ambassadors creating WEDO in their countries by collaborating with government officials, women’s business organizations, and local business people
- Fellowships to serve in advisory capacities

How to participate on November 19th
Join this year’s #WEDO2021 virtual summit, which will host speakers from all walks of life. Your participation will bring awareness to the importance of economically empowering women globally, as well as taking action to support the following United Nations Six Sustainable Development Goals:

A shared mission of animal advocacy
Prior to starting WEDO, after learning 12 million animals were euthanized annually, Wendy Diamond founded Animal Fair Media, Inc, a pet lifestyle media platform that bridged celebrity and pop culture to support animal rescue/welfare. At Vital Pet Life, we’re also ardent animal advocates and partner with Wags & Walk in Los Angeles, as well as other local animal rescue shelters. All animals deserve a forever family in a loving home.
